“Merchants Liquor Mart” has been family owned since 1973 when Curt Alboth established the business with his parents.  Presently, Curt and his sister Carlene, are helped in the running of the store by his wife and brother-in-law as well as a number of knowledgeable and dedicated employees.

With expansions in 1976, 1986 and 1991, the store has come to offer not only more total inventory but an increased wine selection unmatched in the area.  The variety can be daunting to the ‘un-initiated’ and that’s where Merchant’s stands out over the competition.  All employees participate in the TIPS program, a national server-training course, and are more than eager to help you whether your purchase is for that one-on-one special evening or for a gala event.  Customer education is complimented by the weekly Wine Tasting held on Saturday afternoons.

In addition to Wine, Beer, and Liquors at prices that are unmatched in the area, Merchants carries a full line of Cigars from the finest makers.  Their convenient ‘redemption center’ and ‘lottery sales’ area makes it convenient for shoppers returning cans or bottles or purchasing ‘that winning ticket’.

The Alboths believe in ‘giving back’ to the community and are well known for supporting numerous local charities and helping with wine tasting fundraisers.  Their biggest event is the DEEP/Merchants Wine and Food Tasting held every October.  With hundreds of wines and beers, plus foods from a dozen restaurants and bakeries, it’s an event not to be missed!

The store is conveniently located off Route 128, Exit 23N, at 88 High Street (Route 35).  It’s just one exit north of the Liberty Tree Mall.
